Cricket United

The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s official charity for recreational cricket, youth cricket and disability sports. Since January 2011 we have worked closely with The Taverners on their latest venture, Cricket United – a website which aims to offer advice, opportunities and unrivalled expertise to recreational and social cricketers.

Following extensive market research, we built an online community site wholly focussed on funnelling users through to the areas relevant to them as clubs, captains and players. The unique library allows users to read articles, watch videos and download document packs to find out all they need to know about finding club sponsorship, running events and fundraising for their local club. The Social Zone collates the Twitter and Facebook feeds for Cricket United in a central hub for the user to view and interact with in real time.

The site is supported by the English Cricket Board (ECB), and features blogs from a wide range of contributors including England Cricket star Alastair Cook. It also includes RSS feeds, an editable image gallery, a bespoke blog platform and integrated SEO management to ensure the content is continually updated and engaging for users. We are now working with Cricket United to both promote the launch of the site and strategically manage and implement all ongoing marketing activities.

Testimonial

“As the official Charity for recreational cricket, The Lord’s Taverners wanted to build a stronger relationship with social cricketers across the UK. The best way to do this was to offer something useful to this demographic. Having determined that we wanted to build an online community to share the best of cricket with social cricketers, we started working with eight & four early in the process following a competitive tender in which they demonstrated a full understanding of our brief and that they could deliver all our requirements to a high standard, cost effectively. Eight & four have been able to adapt to our evolving requirements with professional efficiency and a personable flexibility, whilst maintaining creative flair and a strong technical steer throughout. Thanks to eight & four’s input, we now have an online resource that utilises our expertise in staging events, sourcing sponsorship, access to discounts & unique opportunities - all to allow recreational cricketers to get the best from the game. Eight & four have been integral in the creation of Cricket United.”
