The Drum Awards Festival: We’ve Been Nominated Twice for Genesis and Mind

The Drum is gearing up for its annual Awards Festival, which recognises creative brilliance across the industry. This year eight&four has been shortlisted in two categories for our work with luxury carmaker Genesis Europe and mental health charity Mind. Two very different sectors, with equally effective results.

In the automotive category, it’s our Face Connect social campaign which has drawn attention for launching the world’s first car with in-built face recognition technology. Though this shoot took us to the breath-taking Austrian Alps to film with an open-water swimmer and travel filmmaker, the performance metrics prove the effectiveness of the creative.

The campaign drove outstanding reach to key audiences: 958K views on YouTube, 3.7M views on Instagram and 9,800 engagements, with a video completion rate of 86.5%.

Over in not-for-profit, we created a hard-hitting Christmas donations campaign for Mind. Working with brand ambassadors such as Bradley Wiggins, Clarke Carlisle, and Ben West, plus current Mind staff, we created a two-part campaign that ran across social and direct mail throughout December and into the new year.

Tapping into the cultural context, our creative used the emotional roller coaster of the World Cup as a familiar gateway to talk about mental health, as well as reframing classic Christmas carols into powerful storytelling devices with haunting effect.

The campaign raised more than £50,000 in the first week – more than double the amount from the previous year. In total, our work drove over £360,000 in donations for Mind.

We’ll be sure to announce any wins on here next month. Bring it on!
